Because of the Coronavirus crisis we are in, we are not able to distribute blessed palms this Palm Sunday. One thing you can do this week is take a branch from your own tree or bush near your home and place it on your front door.

On Palm Sunday we remember Jesus' triumphant entrance into Jerusalem, before he undergoes his passion and death, sacrificing himself on the cross. Throughout this crisis we have been experiencing our own passion, and we have had to sacrifice many things. Jesus was betrayed by Judas and denied by Peter. We may feel betrayed by the current situation, even by the virus itself.

But we look to that day when we will triumphantly enter into our churches to gather together. While Palm Sunday only happens once in the liturgical calendar, on that future day of return we will hold our palm branches as a sign of resilience, and a symbol of the joy of receiving Jesus once again in Holy Communion.

Until then we continue this journey together. Keeping our distance, yes, but united closer than we have ever been before in our common struggle, in our prayer and care for one another, and in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
